In the summer Steamboat Springs and the Yampa Valley offers an amazing variety of activities for everyone. If you are an outdoor enthusiast or someone interested in just relaxing in a mountain setting, you will love all that Steamboat has to offer!
The Yampa Valley offers miles of wonderful trails to enjoy horseback riding, biking, and walking. The rushing rivers thrill those that challenge the waters by kayak, raft, or inner-tube. We'll arrange for a local guide to show you the finest fly-fishing spots in the county! Perhaps you would prefer a walk or roller blade along the paved 4-mile Yampa River Trail, or hike up to the 283 ft. thundering Fish Creek Waterfall. The mountain lakes provide a relaxing way to pass the day through sailing, boating and many other watersports. The rolling hills and valleys contain three renowned golf courses for t he novice to the expert to enjoy the thrill of playing at a high altitude where golf balls travel further through the thin mountain air. The mountains surrounding the Yampa Valley offer majestic landscapes to be experienced while hiking, mountain biking, or even on a guided camping excursion. We are close to the edge of the Routt National Forest if you want to escape for a quiet walk through the trees. If you decide to explore further, you can arrange for a Personal Guide/Outfitter to trek with you into the wilderness. The Yampa Valley is alive nearly every weekend during the summer with theatre, festivals and rodeos to entertain everyone. The ski mountain gondola operates during the summer to take visitors to the top of the mountain for impressive views of the valley and wilderness areas.
The Town of Steamboat Springs and the Mountain Village offer some world-class shopping and cuisine. Enjoy browsing through the unique shops and boutiques with a western atmosphere. Then head off to the natural hot springs for a therapeutic soak and invigorating plunge into one of three natural pools! Thrill seekers can challenge themselves to climbing adventures year-round on ice, rock and indoor climbing walls. At the mountain base is a public tennis arena where locals and visitors meet for a lesson or game. And no visit could be complete anytime of the year without a bird's eye view of the sprawling Yampa Valley and the Continental Divide from aloft in a hot air balloon.
